Welcome! My name is Lauren, and I am a Yoga Therapist. My goal is to help my clients feel better and heal themselves using the amazing tools the yoga tradition has to offer.
What is Yoga Therapy and Who is It For?
Yoga Therapy (YT) is a healing methodology that uses practices from the yoga tradition to build fortitude and balance in all realms of being - body, mind and spirit. Tools like physical postures, breathwork, meditation, sound practices and other mindfulness techniques are layered together in customized practices by a Yoga Therapist for the individual in need.
Private Yoga Therapy sessions are conducted one-on-one between Yoga Therapist and client, (different than a traditional yoga class). Sessions include customized yoga practices specific to the needs and circumstances of each client, and they are adjusted over time as needed.
These practices are empowering, and help individuals embark on their own unique healing journey.
So, if you are someone who is struggling with a challenging health condition and you are looking to:
* Feel better
* Get your vibrancy back
* Improve sleep quality
* Reduce your stress
* Loose weight peacefully
Read on....
You may feel depleted, tired all the time and want to feel like 'yourself' again. You may know that yoga and other self care practices can help but aren't sure where to start or how to stay accountable.
I have been there myself and yoga CAN help.
YT is much more than a physical practice... unique yoga programs will be curated for you based on your specific needs, linking tools such as:
* Physical postures (asana)
* Breathwork (pranayama)
* Sound practices / affirmations (mantra)
* Meditation (dhyana)
* Spiritual / bliss practices (samadhi)
I will create unique, accessible practices you can do in a reasonable amount of time in a way that works for you...
Why Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy (YT) builds resilience in the body. When we have resiliency, we can tap into our innate ability to heal. If you read on you will see that YT can be used to help manage a lot of different conditions. How is this possible?
There are very few healing modalities that consider all facets of being and are so highly customized. If you incorporate these practices into your life you will gain resilience. YT rebuilds resiliency layer by layer within the human experience. You will be given practices that help to balance your entire being. This is beyond the physical poses most of us know from our yoga classes. In YT we use a much broader range of practices - thousands of years old and supported by modern science - to facilitate healing. These tools are curated for YOU as an individual, working step-by-step through each layer of being. This is why it works.
Physical
Can you move without pain? Do you have joint mobility and freedom? Is your muscular strength even and balanced?
Intuition
Do you trust yourself? Can you release past mistakes and look ahead with clarity? Do you feel your life's purpose?
Energy
Do you have steady energy throughout the day? Do you breathe and move with ease?
Bliss
Do you a feel strong connection to others? Can you find joy in simple pleasures? Do you truly love life?
Mental
Are you thinking clearly? Do you feel calm and emotionally balanced? Can you be in the present moment?
Answering yes to all of these questions may seem like a tall order, and it is. But we can use yogic tools to address imbalances in each of these areas, to get more 'yeses' than 'no's', creating better full body balance and ease suffering.

Other Frequent Questions
Do I need previous yoga experience?
Yoga Therapy is for everyone! It is not necessary to have any previous experience with yoga. Additionally, those with yoga experience can benefit from YT as well. The therapeutic application of yoga and the individualized approach, differentiate it from a class setting (more on that below).
What is the difference between Yoga Therapy and a yoga class?
YT is not like taking a yoga class, nor is it used in place of a group class (or vice versa). While many of the tools we use in YT are often practiced in a class setting (posture, breathwork, meditation etc.), a YT session is customized for the individual in need. Yoga Therapists tailor each and every session and overall healing plan to their individual client to treat specific conditions. Of course, YT and yoga classes can be taken in conjunction depending on each client's needs and goals.
Does Yoga Therapy replace other treatments?
While YT can be a standalone treatment, it is not meant to be a replacement for other therapies that might be necessary such as allopathic treatment, talk therapy, chiropractic care, physical therapy and so on...
We may request that clients receive permission to use YT from a medically trained professional depending on the circumstance. YT can work wonderfully in conjunction with other treatment protocols.
What else do I need to know?
YT is not a diagnostic tool. Yoga Therapists do not diagnose or medically treat conditions. We simply provide practices that have been shown to faciliate healing.
YT is not suited to acute conditions.
International Association of Yoga Therapists definition of YT:
"Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga."
